Birth Control Options

I tend to be a bit impulsive, as I was when I chose my previous site’s URL.  I have changed it, which is now http://atheistmidwife.wordpress.com — here!  So welcome to the new site.

So birth control, family planning, or whatever it is you want to call it, and learning what you can about it is something I strongly promote.  So I figure I’m going to be putting up a couple of posts on my experiences with various methods of birth control, what I perceive as the pros and cons of the methods, and where I think they’ll work well.  This is a post that tends to approach things from a heterosexual standpoint, as that’s what I identify as.  This is not meant to exclude anybody that doesn’t identify with that sexual orientation

Generally I split birth control options up into a couple of different cateogires:  Natural (non-hormonal), barrier methods, hormonal, Intrauterine Device (IUD) or implantation, and physical alteration.  There’s some overlap between some of these categories, and I think that a lot of these can (and should) be used complementarily in an effort to assist in a comfortable level of control over ones fertlity.  There’s some that are better for people who are not fluid bonded or monogamous (sometimes referred to as open relationships), and there are some that are a good option for people in fluid-bonded, monogamous, or polyfidelous relationships (sometimes referred to as closed relationships).

I’m going to spend the next couple of days to move over the posts I want from the previous site.  Just ignore them if you’ve already read.  And welcome to the new site!
